Recycling Operative
Giant Recruit is placing a Recycling Operative with one of our recycling clients in Mid Devon. Monday to Friday, 07:00–17:00. Pay is £12.71 per hour, averaging 40 hours per week. Genuine temp-to-perm opportunity. Immediate start available.
The role
You will join the client’s recycling team on the picking line, sorting incoming mixed recycling into clean grades ready for onward reprocessing. No previous recycling experience is required — the client will train you from day one. You start on a weekly-paid temporary contract through Giant Recruit and the client takes you on permanently once you have proven yourself on the line.
What you will be doing
- Sort mixed recycling on the picking line, separating target materials by grade
- Remove contaminants and non-recyclable items safely from the stream
- Keep the sorting line, bays and walkways clean and compliant with site H&S
- Assist with bale tying, bin tipping and loading outbound vehicles
- Report any equipment faults or blockages to the site supervisor
- Wear full PPE at all times and follow site safety procedures
- Support the wider site team with warehouse and yard duties as needed

- Physically fit — you’ll be on your feet all day
- Comfortable working in a dusty, industrial environment
- Reliable and punctual — the line needs a full crew to run
- Basic English (written and spoken) for safety briefings
- Right to work in the UK
- Own transport essential due to rural site location and start time
